Upright spreading shrub with dark green elliptic foliage, and clusters of star-shaped flowers followed by egg shaped orange-red berries.
Fast growing and short lived. Pioneer plant that regenerates after fires and in cleared areas.
Indigenous name: MOOKITCH (Gunditjmara)
An important food, but fruit was only eaten when very ripe. It is poisonous at other times.
