A fast-growing small to large upright tree with hard, fissured bark. Prefers moist fertile soils, but once established will tolerate drier conditions, however may remain smaller.
Use for shade and screening. Habitat tree. Will sucker if roots damaged. Can be an upper or middle canopy tree.
Indigenous name: BURN-NA-LOOK (Wurundjeri)
Bark used to treat rheumatism by heating over a fire and infusing in water. Wood used to make shields, clubs and spear throwers.
